Project Recovery
Even well-planned projects do not always complete on time. In our experience, this can be for a multitude of reasons. We will carry out a detailed project review with the project delivery team to ascertain the cause of delay. If this is not possible we can review contemporaneously issued progress reports and programmes and advise on the best way forward.
Project delays occur for many reasons, for example, one or more of the parties delivering the project did not:
Devote sufficient resource to develop a robust or realistic plan
Properly or accurately update the plan
Perform as was expected.
There are also unexpected events that affect progress, such as a variation or Covid or perhaps extreme weather events.
Finding the cause of delay can be complicated, but it is often essential.
The appropriate service offering is dependent on the stage that the project is at. It is advisable not to enter into formal dispute resolution processes whilst the project is under construction. This is because all project resource should be focused on delivery rather than distracted by arguing. During this time attempting to resolve disagreements or festering disputes is most advantageous at this stage. Should that not be successful, more formal dispute resolution processes may be required.
“Julian worked with our site management team and developed a solid report that clearly explained how the main contractor had delayed and disrupted our planned works. Following presenting this to the main contractor, we negotiated a favourable settlement. I would recommend Julian as an excellent forensic planner.”
